An interesting insight of Europol about match-fixing in Sport

Europol published a report about the situation in match-fixing last year. This report highlights the link between sports corruption, match-fixing and organized crime. The organization wants to raise awareness among sports industry and its public.

We invite you to read this report to get further information about the characteristics,  structure and other aspects of match-fixing. Europol has built up significant expertise in organized crime groups and their possible effects on football and sport communities more widely.

As you will be able to read, football is one of two major sports most affected by match-fixing. Organisations need to take part in the fight against unfair games. However, to put things into perspective, fewer than 1% of football matches a year are suspected to have been fixed.
